Make some keyword research on the product, so you looked at the types of keywords people might be using to search for that product. For example, a dog walking guide people may search for “how to walk your dog” etc

There’s hundreds of article directories, submit the article to around 10 or so. A lot of online based businesses forget about offline advertising. It is important to combine offline and online advertising together in your marketing campaign. You can market offline more effectively by targeting people that actually have access to the internet. In working at the research for my series of AdSense Articles, two common innovations kept getting repeated:

My AdSense ads are horrible, they only pay out (insert low dollar figure here)
My AdSense CTR is horrible, I only get a (insert horribly low CTR here)

To be fair these comments weren't coming only on bloggers, but bloggers did make up an overwhelmingly egregious percentage. I be sure this stems from a misconception on the part of the bloggers that they are entitled to astronomical payout and CTR. I'd fancy to spend a little bit time to share my feelings on this subject. In the early days a blog may just have been heard an online diary or journal, but like the days of the Nehru jackets, properties are gone. What a blog is now is Chronologically Structured Content Management System, as opposed to the classic web hierarchical structured implementation. Let's be clear, you can still use a blog as your online diary or journal, but nowdays it's easily as going to be expended as a commercial blog. Yes, I did just say commercial blog, and no the earth didn't open under my feet and swallow me whole for saying it. Let's take a few time to look at a your typical blog.

You may post about commercial related subjects similar to your job, what you like to buy, or even your hobbies. However such posts are all about your life, properties are no a large amount of commercially good or appealing than say Aunt Millie's Holiday Newsletter. Yes we all have an Aunt Millie in our family, every year she sends out a finely crafted newsletter in a coordinating envelope she ordered from paperdirect.com telling us all about her family. So if you were a business owner would you covet to advertise anywhere on Aunt Millie's Newsletter? Then why would a business want to pay you top dollar to advertise on your blog? What's that, you say your blog gets (insert a extreme sum here) of readers per day, definitely that has to be worth something? Well did you knew Aunt Millie sends out over 800 copies of her holiday newsletter to 17 countries, on 4 continents? Now before you get all fired up just about it, understand which I don't have a problem with you having a personal blog or sharing it with the public. However your expectation that it has value outside of your family/friends/community, is a serious misconception.

So what exactly is a commercially viable blog? Don't think of it as publishing a blog, think of it as publishing an online magazine. You need to start out with good content or articles virtually a little area or niche topic. You will ask for lots of content, and unless you are well known, don't expect even to happen until you've written at least 100 and more possible for the duration of 200 articles. Yes you will have to devote chosen time and effort to publicizing and selling it as well. Once you've got a valuable focused reader base, that's the long period of time to slowly ad in the advertising. Now here's the one that means plenty of people to freak out. BE PREPARED TO GIVE UP SOME PRIME SCREEN REAL ESTATE, IN THE CENTER, ABOVE THE FOLD,TO ADVERTISING. If you've functioned surrounded by print media at all you will know the core of the right hand web page is the most desirable spot inside of a magazine (excluding the payback pages). I've sat through meetings where people have alleged " ... you know we fancy more right hand pages ...". If you want those of us to click on your ads, you will need put them where they can see them, above the fold in the core of the screen, in a prominent location. Yes I can almost here the keys typing for the flame comments and emails now. Before you hit that send button though, ask yourself this, are you building a space sough after by advertisers, or are you working on Aunt Millie's Newsletter? No I don't think your pages should be filled amidst ads, in fact quite the opposite, there should always be more content than advertising, ALWAYS!

Next thing, squander the would like graphics and eye-candy from your template. Yes I know you may have paid for a fancy template, possibly you had your niece who's a graphic artist design something for you, or you really like the way such a spinning flaming platypus looks in your page header. Here's the thing, it's detracting from your content. Graphics should be simple, understated, and substantiation the content, not overpower or compete with it. Now before some art student wearing a beret, corduroy jacket with elbow patches, and smoking a pipe or French cigarette, writes and calls me a Philistine, stop and think. Yes I know you feel such as I recently ripped off the band-aid, and now it hurts. Sorry but someone had to do it. I can identify some of you are that much out there reading saying 'but can't I still have that ... do we have to get rid of currently ... I really like that ...'. Well I'm not your second grade teacher who's going to tell you everything's all right, that you don't own to change a thing, and put a scooby-doo sticker on your shirt to make you feel better. If you desire a blog that makes you more finances as opposed to you spend at Starbucks most every Tuesday, you will need to get monumental about how you're doing.

If none of this sounds incredibly fun, and really sounds pretty close to actual work, here's the way I see it, getting an AdSense look for $5 is fun, getting an AdSense check for $500 or $5000 is work.

Many webmasters are making good money of Google AdSense. But chance are high that they are not using the best possible setup to maximize their earnings. I am not talking about on page optimization of the ad placements. I am assuming that you have identified the best possible spots for your ads already. However - here is an easy way to improve your AdSense earnings by 10%-20% - maybe even more. Key is to know that the very first Google AdSense block on your page carries the more expensive ads. These are the ads that earn you the most money when a visitor clicks them. To make most out of your AdSense ads, these are the ads you want to have in the best spot on the page in question.

You will need to identify which AdSense ad block is the one with the highest paying ads and which ad unit is receiving the best click-thru rate. If the two are the same, you are already set and can work on other pieces. But chances are high that they might not necessarily be the same and that's where you make adjustments without much work. Let's get started. Use different channels in Google AdSense and monitor them for a few days to have solid data to work with. If you are already maxed out with your AdSense channels, swap some around. You will only need those additional channels for maybe a week.

With the data on your hand, you might see that that ad unit #1 is the one receiving the best CTR (Click Thru Rate) and ad unit #2 is the one with highest paying ads. Make sure to compare the CTR to make an informed decision. Let's assume that your current setup matches our example. Now you will want to make changes to your page or template to make sure that ad unit #1 is loaded first when the page is visited. Again - it is very important to know that Google distributes ads on a first come, first serve basis. So the AdSense block that the Google AdSense bot (Mediapartner) sees first in your page, is the one that will show the more expensive AdSense ads. If you know html and CSS you probably know that this is not necessarily the ad up on top of the page in your browser (depending on your page layout). Review your code if needed and make the adjustments. CSS can be a good way to shuffle things around so that the most popular ad unit also carries the most expensive ads.

In one case where I finally got of my lazy butt and did the research described above I was able to improve AdSense earnings by ~15%. The work involved was less than 30 minutes. Easy money.

Blogging for money is not my cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean I hate the idea of making money online, who does? Lately, I’ve noticed a large number of people decided to blog not because they enjoyed blogging but wanted to make a living out of it, and that really annoys me. Reminds me of a good friend of mine, when the blogging world was in its infant years, I proposed the idea of co-blogging, with no intention of making anything out of it, but he rejected my idea, reason is because it is a waste of time.

Fast forward 2 years, he came talking to me and wanted to know how blog works and told me he bought a book - ‘Google Adsense for dummies‘, and just like yesteryear, I politely rejected his proposal on the ‘idea’ of co-blogging with him. His sudden passion in blogging was due to the fact that he overheard I’m making a living out of it.

Three years of blogging and numerous trial and errors, I conclude that the art of monetizing your blog comes in many forms, depending on the blogging platform, keywords, language and many more, I would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of the key issues or shall I say some really simple technique that all newbie should know.

1. Insert Ads into your post.

This is by far the easier way to increase your CTR, but be cautious that just like a sword, it cuts both ways because it can be potentially annoying to your readers knowing that you are bombarding them with advertisement. Some of my favorite formats are the 468 x 60px, 300 x 300px, and 125 x 125px.

2. Filter unwanted or low paying ads

Rumors has it that the author of AdsBlacklist own numerous spammy websites and the only for his splog to appear in adsense is by blocking out the competitions, thus born AdsBlacklist, basically he provide a list of his competitor’s splog to be filtered by the publisher. Well, it does works to a certain extend.

3. Ping your blog, submit to all the search engines.

Based on my 3 years of experience, pinging you blog and submit it to every known search engine does not guarantee traffic, and in most cases you get spammed in returned.

The Triangle for Success

Success is a direct result of applying the right principles to your professional life and your personal life. The question is what are the right principles to apply in order to achieve success? Over the years of studying, four primary principles of success continue to surface from the ancient writers. I call these four principles the triangle of success.

The "triangle" of success because one principle is placed at each corner of the triangle and the crucial principle is positioned in the heart of the triangle. The heart of the triangle is what promises success to the other three principles.

The other three principles at the corner of the triangles embody the essence of men and women. You will see what I am talking about as I unfold these three.

Mind
The first corner of the triangle is your thinking process; or in other ! words exercising your mind. Learning is a necessary step towards growing. Growth is imperative to achieve success. Aristotle puts it succinctly, he writes, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."

Success follows the ability to analyze a subject, make sound judgments while moving toward your objectives. "You are to be a student, not a follower", says Jim Rohn. That is exactly what professionals are, they are students. Success is the goal; therefore, continuous training, instruction, and being mentored is the process.

Those who are successful pay the price. They apply the disciplines of learning. They have placed value on education and training. I, personally, think that if you are a student, always applying the disciplines of learning, that your philosophies of life will be improving, better ideas come to your thinking, which all leads to success.

Education is something that no one can ever take away from you. It helps to develop and define who you are.

Emotions
Your emotion is the second corner of the triangle. Passionately pursuing after your objectives leads to success. This is not to say that your objectives come before people in your life, but the principle is to be well taken-success is dependent on your inner drive to achieve it.

The truth is, you will do what you want to do. If you want something bad enough you will dwell on it all of the time doing whatever is necessary to reach your goal. That is passion. Kahlil Gibran said, "All that spirits desire, spirits attain."

Perhaps G. W. F. Hegel says is best, "Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion." You see what I mean when I said above that these principles surface every where I studied? These are the principles that made men and women great.

The reasons that they do surface is that these principles are at the core of who and what we are made of inside. You were designed with a purpose and the driving force within you motivates you to accomplish your purpose in life.

Will
The third corner of the triangle is your will. Eventually, you have to step out and do what you desire. If you never decide to reach for your dream, you will remain in the stands with the majority of people in life.

Perhaps you have fear, hurt, or insecurity, holding you back; if you permit these or any others to control your actions success stands aloof. A mentor at this point may be more helpful, than, reading a book or two. At times we need someone to hold us accountable so that we will do the necessary follow through.

Depending on your temperament exercising your will towards your objectives may take a lot of courage, but courage is what guarantees that these others will work. If you don't have the courage to start you never will know, now will you?

I can not stress it strong enough that taking action is one of the most important principles to achieving your dreams. Jim Rohn, says, "Some are always picking the fruit, while others are always, examining the roots." Consistent action will produce results. It is the law of sowing and reaping. You reap what you sow, in other words, you get what you deserve, not what you need. Plant enough seeds and you will find growth. It is the law of ratio. Ask enough people and someone will join or buy.

Perseverance
Now, what is in the heart or center of the triangle that will enable you to succeed? Every successful person has this. Do you know? I will give you a clue it begins with a P, now you fill in the blank, P__________. It is perseverance! Perseverance is the inner strength to get back into the battle after you have been wounded. As I observe those who succeed and those who don't, it appears to me that the difference is in perseverance.

Those with perseverance don't stop until they reach their goal. They are relentless! Just when you thought they were down and out this time, sure as the world, they manage, some how, to get back up again.

I love to visit Chocolate World. It is located in Hershey, PA. They make, obviously, Hershey's chocolate. You get to take a tour to see how they make all of that chocolate and at the end of the ride you get a piece of free chocolate and/or the opportunity to buy all the chocolate you want. But, the significant part of the tour is reading "bits and pieces" of Milton Hershey's life (the founder). He, like so many others, failed three times in the business world, before he was successful. He had a dream and would not let go of it.

Was he ever discouraged? You know he was. Did he ever want to quit? Who doesn't? Did others talk bad about him? I think some still do. However, those are not the right questions to ask. Better questions are: "Did he quit?" And "What kept him from quitting?" Or, "How did he persevere?"

No, he did not give up. He persevered through the hard times and some unbearable problems. How did he do that? What kept him going? The same way thousand's of others did it. The big "P" was in the center of the triangle. Perseverance was the heart of their passion, attitude, and will.

Napolean Hill captures the three corners of the triangle when he writes, "Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you ready or not, to put this plan into action." As you add perseverance to this success formula it is one sure way to, at least, do your part to succeed. There are never any promises how life will turn out, but one thing for sure, neglect the right principles and you are removing the possibilities of success.

First, I have to tell you that I have never made any money online, I am totally unfamiliar with e-marketing and, moreover, until recently I had no idea what “blog” means. But I got in to a situation when I need big money and urgently.

I have made quite a research on the Internet on making money and from all the methods out there the one described by Rob Benwell in “Blogging to the Bank” looked the most reliable to me. I have a critical set of mind, and I will never put a cent into something that does not give me the promised returns. Somehow I believed in Rob’s e-book, maybe because of the way he wrote his ad letter or maybe because he promises a realistic income of up to $500 a day. Many others promise insane $60,000-80,000 a month for doing nothing. I consider them spam immediately.

Once I’ve decided to buy “Blogging to the Bank” I rushed doing so as I did not want to pay for it $97 instead of $47 what it costs right now. Soon he is planning to increase the price as he gets too many customers to manage the orders.

However, already in my “Thank you” letter I got an unpleasant surprise: another ad to buy a new e-book “Blog Announcer Pro” helping generate traffic to your blog. I think it is not a smart move as customers who have already trusted him get an impression that he is just trying to squeeze money out of us. But as soon as I started reading his “Blogging to the Bank” e-book I realized that it is a great stuff. It is full of useful information, without which I would not be able to do a thing, and he does reveal some secrets.

I have just started to put everything he wrote into practice and eager to find out if it really works. Somehow I feel that it does.

Sure, I am going to keep you posted on my results just keep returning to my blog.

Successful network marketers don't use a names list or make cold calls to build their business. How successful can your business really be when your entire strategy is based upon approaching people who never asked to be approached? Not very! By now I think most people in the world know about blogs. What most don't know as there is a great income to be made as well for free.

Rob Benwell is only a mere 22 years old and has already made a fortune using this method. Early last year he sharing his secrets with the world in his highly successful Blogging To The Bank ebook and has made making money online a whole lot easier for everyone.

Let's face it - there are lots of ways to make money online. If you own a department store it may well pay you to have online shoppers. If you own hotels or airlines or travel agencies you will make most of your money online. If you know how to operate eh bay you can make money online everyday. If you are a seasoned internet marketer you can make money online everyday by either selling original information products or by being an affiliate marketer.

Making money online everyday is not so simple. Remember there are seven days in week and 52 weeks in a year. So you need to have something to sell or do that results in an online income for at least 245 of the 365 days. The internet is saturated with sites offering you products that can make money everyday. But the problem with those is that you need to be, at the very least, a would be marketer with some years of experience and have learned all the technology that goes with such marketing.

Since you found this article by typing in the words 'make money online everyday' the chances are you are none of the above. So you want a simple easy way to become wealthy. If you happen to have a warehouse (or a room in your house) full of items that people might buy then selling them on eh bay is the simple way to make money everyday. But of course such a business entails packaging, posting and paying for the use of the portal and your roomful of items is finite.

Another option might be to produce information products. Of course many people are making solid fortunes from their information products. They seem to be able to churn them out at the rate of knots. My favourite author of all time, the great Napoleon Hill (author of "Think and Grow Rich")said in his book:

"There are millions of people who BELIEVE themselves "doomed" to poverty and failure, because of some strange force over which they BELIEVE they have no control. They are the creators of their own "misfortunes," because of this negative BELIEF, which is picked up by the subconscious mind, and translated into its physical equivalent.

This is an appropriate place at which to suggest again that you may benefit, by passing on to your subconscious mind, any DESIRE which you wish translated into its physical, or monetary equivalent, in a state of expectancy or BELIEF that the transmutation will actually take place. Your BELIEF, or FAITH, is the element which determines the action of your subconscious mind."

Someone who practises the virtues of Desire, Belief and Action is Bob Proctor. His rise from the depths of poverty is attributed to these great teachings. However, there are a lot of people out there who don't believe in this "stuff", but that's because they're ignorant.

Whenever I set a goal I see myself as being already in possession of it, so that eventually it becomes reality. You can't just wish for something then do nothing and hope it comes true. The way to achieve a goal is to take "action".

Your desire has to be so strong that it dominates your thoughts, and you have to believe that you will succeed. Without belief or faith, all you have is a wish.

Revitalize Your Personal and Professional Life

Have you ever found yourself staring down a goal...achieving it...celebrating your success (I hope) only to find that you have slipped back into the same patterns and behaviors that kept you bound long before you reached your goal. Simply, your goal was attained and lost, only to be attempted, gained again at some point, or completely abandoned.

Has this ever happened to you?

You start out with the greatest of intentions to reach a goal and you make headway...almost fast and furiously...reach your goal and celebrate! As you should! Reaching a goal is a 'significant' accomplishment that deserves to be embraced and recognized...even rewarded!

So, after the party ends and the celebration fades, the dreaded happens...the old ways are back!

This is what I have encountered in my own life and I hear it repeatedly in my work with clients, both present and past. This bouncing back and forth takes aim at all of us and, most times, we are never really fully prepared to handle it, yet we often had the thought in the back of our minds that it was a serious possibility when we shot toward our specific goal(s). The fact of the matter is that a high risk potential does exist for negative behaviors to return and sabotage our once glorified achievement(s)!

So, why does this happen?

Is it possible that the 'old ways' are THAT inviting and preferred and we just can't live without them?

It seems reasonable to conclude that if the old ways were THAT inviting, perhaps you would not have sought 'new ways' to replace them in the first place.

The question remains...How does it happen?

The answer? Although there are many reasons that contribute to the return of old behaviors, there is one reason that keeps begging for our attention...

Consider this:

If you think about your most recent 'quest' to achieve a goal, what was your mindset like at the starting gate?

Were you feeling pressured by a need to set this goal?
Were you feeling fearful of the goal from the 'get-go' that you may have even said to yourself, "I'm probably not going to be able to do it, but I guess I'll have to give it a try!"
Were you wondering if you had it in you to 'stick with it' from the very start, even before you made your attempts to achieve your goal?
Were you headed into your mission with '100% conviction' and strong intentions?

Knowing your state of mind 'before' making any kind of headway is vital for you to realize successful attempts and successful outcomes. Believe it or not, your self-awareness on a much deeper level at the time you are ready to do the 'work' really can be a critical factor for success. If you have significant emotions NOW that you can label as 'negative' about the goal or the process of reaching your goal, you might want to ask yourself if going forward is your best option NOW.

If that is the case, you might also want to consider the option of really 'getting to know yourself' on a deeper level before heading into your mission of setting and reaching your goal(s).

Think of it this way:
If you are not in a state of open awareness before going into 'battle' and your truest intention is to move quickly into action and get a quick result, you are essentially doing the equivalent of heading straight into your battlefield zone without your appropriate armor, weaponry, or skillful planning.

Ask yourself:

Can I move toward my goal successfully while immersed in 'fear-based' thinking?
Am I able to challenge any negative thoughts right now that would help me reach my goal later?
What is my belief now about my ability to reach any of my goals?
What is my attitude about this particular goal? Is my goal going to be my "friend or foe?"
What do I feel now physically when I think about wanting to reach my goal? Am I feeling anxious and rushed to do the work that it takes to reach my goal?
If I am disappointed in myself for any reason now, what might make me feel better at the other end of this journey?
Will reaching my goal help me to find 'love' for myself that I don't seem to have now?

The starting gate is a most critical point in the process. Movement forward toward any goal requires fine-tuning of your mental awareness. The 'rush' to the finish line may always seem like the best approach with the least amount of "pain"...But, the so-called 'pain' we endure is our work that produces the best and longest lasting results.

Reverting back to square one, having already reached the goal or never having reached the goal at all, has the potential to generate familiar negative dialog ("I knew I couldn't do it!" or "I knew it wouldn't last!") all over again. That process can be changed by one mere additional step in the process...

...Know Yourself BEFORE You Set Out To Reach Your Goals!

AdSense Stop Affiliate Program

There are times Google's heralded ad affiliate program isn't in your long term business interest. Oh no I said it!

AdSense isn't the unstoppable revenue engine for every eBusiness. Before I am taken out and flogged by the eCommerce pundits -- please let me explain what I mean in my defense.

I make revenues from AdSense at a very high click-through rate. I experience high click-through rates with AdSense without resorting to questionable tactics like tricking site users with photos (the AdSense trick and tip dujour).

So my perspective is from one who has made decent income from AdSense to fund aspects of his business like advertising seminars -- and outsourcing to his virtual assistants. Yes, AdSense is a legitimate and significant revenue source. However evaluate AdSense with some type of balance.

By now you may have heard about people like Joel Comm's six figure income with AdSense, or Jason Calacanis of Weblogs being on his way to generating 1 million dollars in AdSense revenue. Google's Ad revenue sharing affiliate program for publishers certainly seems to be an eSales Nirvana for many webmasters.

But there are obvious and not so obvious times not to use AdSense ads on your sites. Let's list - examine - and explain them below.

~~~~> 1. On Sales or Mini-sites

This is a no-brainer. If you are trying to sell a particular product that is important to your bottomline, you don't want AdSense ads distracting your customers from either joining your email list, or hindering your site's online sales process.

However I do see hybrid sites that are mini-sites or full scale eCommerce sites, with AdSense at the bottom of their pages. This might not be so bad since only 1% - 15% of your site visitors will either buy from you or fill out a form.

The thinking with this approach is you might as well make money from disinterested parties using up your server's bandwidth.

~~~~~> 2. SEO Business Sites

If your livelihood depends on search engine optimization or marketing for a living you might want to think twice about displaying AdSense Ads on your site. I can tell you this from personal experience. I once was on top of MSN for search engine marketing in my local area. I concentrated on my local area because I found people felt more comfortable hiring an eCommerce consultant locally.

One day my site fails totally out of the MSN index. After intense study I noticed that I obviously had a filter on my site from MSN.

I analyzed all the top ranking sites in MSN and noticed the only difference between me and the other top ranking sites was I had Google AdSense ads on my site. Someone at MSN felt that my AdSense ads, and perhaps to a less extent, my book on SEO, was getting a free ride in the MSN search engine database.

In fact I noticed that there were no sites with AdSense ads for at least the first 3 pages. Plus the sites with AdSense were only using 1 ad unit at the bottom of the home page (there were very few of them in the top 5 pages).

I knew it was strange to not have AdSense ads on the top Internet marketing sites. This prompted me to scan other industries where I noticed the same trend.

Many of the leading SEO gurus have sites that have been banned from the top listings by the search engines. It seems the more visible you become, the more of a target your sites are to the search engine auditors.

Some of my sites are still on the top of MSN with AdSense ads but that doesn't mean they won't also be targets in the future.

Let's face the facts. MSN and Yahoo! have competing ad networks to Google's, and this competitive situation is rife for a potential backlash against SEO sites with AdSense ads.

Many SEOs will point to exceptions to this position. However you have been warned!

Think about it, how long will MSN and Yahoo! sit back and watch SEO driven websites use their search indexes to fund Google? Did you know SEO in MSN and Yahoo(!) --- is much easier to obtain.

Therefore optimized sites are creating an ad sales wealth transfer from MSN and Yahoo into the pockets of Google! It won't be long before Yahoo! and MSN begin to devalue ranking on AdSense sites in their databases -- if not outright ban them.

If you are in the search engine business stay search engine neutral, or create multiple sites for different search engines.

~~~~~> 3. When AdSense Becomes Your Only Business Model

When you become so myopic in your thinking that you build a business solely on AdSense revenue -- think again my friend. Why build a business solely on the largess of Google?

I don't know if your realize it or not, but the sites making the real big AdSense money usually have a following that doesn't depend on the search engines. Internet mavens like Chris Pirillo or Joel Comm have been on the Internet a while and have followings for their websites. Therefore they can consistently make six figures with AdSense.

These content powerhouses are an asset to Google and not the other way around. But do you think Google is going to sit back and watch just anybody make big bucks off of their top rankings?

If you do a search on most keywords you will notice many of the top ranking sites are news sites, .gov sites, or .org sites these days. The only exception is in industries where these sites don't really exist like eCommerce industries (clothing, shopping, etc.).

No doubt in most industries you will notice a conspicuous scarity of AdSense sites in the top rankings. In other words don't bet your future fortunes on AdSense.

An IPO based on projections of AdSense revenue isn't in the future for the average eBusiness. Think of Google AdSense as supplemental income. Building a business solely on AdSense revenue isn't just silly -- it's just plain stupid.

SEO for Monetized

A friend of mine mentioned how the noise level in SEO forums has gone from around 95% to about 99%. I think it is largely due to a shift from content optimization to content creation (and remember that this is a site selling a book on optimization, so me saying this is not in any way to my benefit).

Here is why there is a large shift from optimization to creation

* The ease which content can be published: It took me less than 2 hours to teach my mom Blogger, Bloglines, rss, xml, etc. She now blogs every day.

* the ease in which content can be commented on and improved in quality

* the casual nature in which links flow toward real content

* the massive increase in the number of channels and quantity of information makes us more inclined to look for topical guides to navigate the information space

* the ease with which content can be monetized has greatly increased. AdSense, Yahoo! Publisher Network, Chitika, new Amazon Product Previews, affiliate programs, link selling, direct ads, donations, (soon enough Google Wallet for microcontent), etc.

* contextual ad programs teach the content publishers to blend links, which has the net effect of...
o short term increase in revenues for small publishers
o until users trust links less
o at which point in time users will be forced to go back to primary trusted sources (ie: one of the few names they trust in the field or a general search engine like Google)

* it is getting increasingly expensive to find quality link inventory that works in Google to promote non content sites, and margins are slimming for many of those creating sites in hyper competitive fields

* the algorithms are getting harder for people new to the field to manipulate

* around half of all search queries are unique. most hollow spam sites focus on the top bits whereas natural published information easily captures the longer queries / tail of search

* duplicate content filters are aggressively killing off many product catalog and empty shell affiliate sites

* as more real / useful content is created those duplicate content and link filtering algorithms will only get better

* general purpose ecommerce site owners will have the following options:
o watching search referrals decrease until their AdWords spends increases
o thickening up their sites to offer far more than a product catalog
o switching to publishing content sites

* and the market dynamics for Google follow popular human behavior, even for branded terms or keyword spaces primarily created by single individuals
o the term SEO Book had 0 advertisers and about 0 search volume when I launched this site
o this site got fairly popular
o SEO Book is now one of my most expensive keyword phrases

As long as it is original, topical, and structured in a non wild card replace fashion content picks up search traffic and helps build an audience.

I am not trying to say that optimization is in any way dead, just that the optimization process places far more weight on content volume and social integration than it did a year or two ago.

The efficiencies Google are adding to the market will kill off many unbranded or inefficient businesses. One of my clients has an empty shell product site and does no follow up marketing with the buyers. I can't help but think that there needs to be some major changes in that business or in 3 to 6 months we won't be able to compete on the algorithmic or ppc front without me being very aggressive.

There have been 3rd party javascripts that track adsense clicks out for a while, but no free ones to my knowledge that track clicks on Firefox. Until now.

This free script integrates with Google Analytics to allow you to track your adsense clicks.

This tracking is done through "Goals". A goal is a way of tracking when a website visitor does something you want - Buy an item, submit a contact form, or in our case click an adsense ad.

Create a goal: To create a goal you assign it a URL. This url doesn't have to exist, as the javascript will trigger it.
In the Goal URL field, enter "/asclick" and "AdClick" for the goal name.

Adding the javscript to your page: Copy the astrack.js to your website server and add the following to the footer of your website. This has to come after all adsense code.

Testing it: DON'T! There is no way to test that this works as it tracks adsense clicks, and you can't click your own adsense. You'll just have to trust me that works :)

After some time you should start seeing goal tracking appearing in your stats.
For example, here is source conversion. Note that the percentages are based on Visitors, not Pageviews, so they do not compare to CTR.

So from that graphic we can see that out of 11 visitors that came from MSN, 54% of then clicked on an adsense ad over the course of their visit.

Below many graphs in Google Analytics is a list with round arrows. If you click the arrows on almost any item you see an option for "To-date Lifetime value".

Click this and you see the Goal conversion for that item. For example here is the Coversion rate for DSL users.

Once you have Google Analytics tracking your clicks, you can cross segment that data to almost any other data Google Analytics shows. It becomes a very powerful way of optimising your site, not just for CTR, but for the type of visitors that click adsense.

Once lived a great king who was getting old and wanted to retire. One day he announced that all his personal wealth would be distributed to the public. However one would have to earn his share as the king did not want the wealth to go to unworthy.

His wealth would be in the seven stories of his palace. One might take whatever one wished, he announced. The word spread fast and people gathered. No one wanted to miss this opportunity of getting rich.

The entrance was opened and people eagerly rushed in. Presented to them were common items of pottery, glass and earth. They checked every place. Nothing else was there. People got disappointed. This was not what they had expected. Many left cursing.

Others decided to try second floor. As they moved there they found things which were costlier but nothing which could be called wealth. Many left again. It was wastage of time after all. The king either had gone mad or played a bad joke

Rest of them pushed themselves to the next level through a passage that was narrower and steeper. Here displayed were some coins of lesser value. Discouraged quite a number left again. I was clear now that the king had really played a joke. There was no wealth to be found.

Few who were encouraged enough resolved to go to further. They had to walk a path harder than previous. Those who could not tread returned. Only a handful reached fourth storey and were rewarded with silver coins.

Joyfully many stuffed and left. Thank God! The day was not wasted on some misadventure. They had come from far. They were tired now. They did not want to go further. They had work at their homes too.

However, ten people decided to go ahead. It was a very difficult journey. The was almost vertical and very rough. Only four could reach next level. Others left, not being able to continue. Those who reached found gold coins in abundance. Two decided to end here and left with gold happily.

Pleased with this one started filling his bags whereas other went into deep thoughts.

"What happened? You don't want this" asked the one who was filling.

It was then an idea struck him. He made a heap of diamonds to reach and pulled the rope. A doorway appeared in one of the walls. Beyond that was a beautiful ladder. As he climbed a hand pulled him to seventh floor.

The man was appointed as king next day.

Don't just target keywords for the sake of targeting keywords - the writing needs to make sense! You are allowed to use the AdSense ad units in two different places on each page. You can accomplish this in a couple of different ways. First, you can add the AdSense ad code to the template for your blog. This is done through the control panel for your blog, and some knowledge of HTML is needed. This is the year that the voices that have been crying in the wilderness have arrived - plunk in the middle of everyone's suburban neighbourhood. Suddenly everyone wants to do something to protect and clean up the planet. Selecting a Domain Name

Today I want to share with you some things about your domain name selection that you need to think about before you begin to promote your business or product online. If you already have a website in place, no problem, you can incorporate these ideas to make even more online sales. Here are some of the things to think about when choosing your domain name:

1. Choose a domain name for your business AND for your product.

Yes, that’s right. Multiple domain names. For example, if your business is ABC Corporation and your product is called Maximize Your Sales, then get a domain name called www.ABCCorporation.com and www.MaximizeYourSales.com. You can have both of these domain names pointing to different pages of your web site. This way, customers who only know you by your product name can find you easily by typing in the NameOfYourProduct.com, and those who know you by your corporate name can find you easily by typing YourCorporation.com. (Hint: If you are an individual with a small business, you should register your personal name also).

2. Get domain names with dashes in them.

In the previous example, we used the company and product domain names. Now, go out and purchase www.ABC-corporation.com and www.Maximize-Your-Sales.com.

Why should you do this? Two reasons, really: The first is aesthetic appeal. Wouldn’t you agree that it’s easier to read the long domain names with the dashes in them? However, it is much easier to type a name into your browser without the dashes, and that makes it easier on your customers, which is why you purchased the domain name without the dashes.

Additionally, domain names with dashes sometimes rank a bit higher in the search engines. A higher ranking in the search engines will drive more customers to your web site. Search engine algorithms are ever changing, but buying multiple domains and pointing each one of them to a specific, product-related page on your main site can ultimately help you make more sales in the future. Be sure not to point multiple domains at the same page, though -- that will get you dropped from most search engines.

3. Purchase domains that are similar in spelling to yours.

Every day, someone misspells a word. Inevitably, they will still land on someone's web page. Why not yours? Using the example above, you might want to purchase www.abccorperation.com and www.maximiseyoursales.com just to be safe. It's easy to reroute these names to your main web page after you own them.

4. Use a top keyword in your domain name.

Let’s use another example to illustrate: Suppose you are selling garden tools. Not just any garden tools, you sell low cost, high quality garden tools. The name of your company is Garden Tool World. Using the tips above, you will purchase the domain names for your company. But what about your product?

The key here is to look for names for your product domain that people will be searching for. When a potential customer goes to a search engine, will they look for “low cost high quality garden tools”? Or will they look for “Cheap Garden Tools”? With a little research, you can find out what people are looking for.

I use two tools to see what people are looking for on the internet: WordTracker and Overture’s Inventory. Simply type in the word or phrase you are looking for and you will see instantly which phrases are most popular. So if people are looking for “Cheap Garden Tools”, then your domain name might be: www.cheapgardentools.com.

Choosing a domain name is an important part of the overall marketing process and should not be taken lightly. Make sure your domain name represents your company, product and image, and you'll be setting a great foundation for future sales.

How Much Money Can You Make Blogging?

Everyone seems to be hopping on the professional blogging bandwagon these days. And why not? Blogs are hot right now, and blogging about a topic you're passionate about is a lot of fun.

But how much money can you really make blogging?

There are a couple of different approaches to professional blogging. The first is to write a blog for a blog network or other company -- basically a freelance writing gig. The second is to run your own blog and monetize it with advertising and affiliate programs.

Jennifer Chait at Network Blogging Tips offers some rare insight into the first model, with a look at typical blog wages, in which she exposes eight actual deals that either she or other bloggers have accepted recently. The deals range from $7-$12 a post or $120 a month at the low end to over $1,000 a month on the high end.

For independent bloggers, Problogger Darren Rowse provides a closer look at how much money a blog can earn. He shows examples ranging from about $135 a month to over $3,000 a month, and takes a look at seven factors that contribute to a blog's earnings.

The real question is... is it worth it?

Well, it depends... not only on how much traffic you can generate, ad rates and affiliate click-throughs, but on one thing especially: how efficient can you be at it?

If you can crank out two posts a day in an hour or two, then $1,000 a month is moderately good money (about $30-$35 an hour). If it takes you an hour a day to do one post on the lower end of the pay range, it's more like $5 an hour! And the reality is that the vast majority of "professional" bloggers are at the low end of the spectrum.

So why do so many people still do it if the pay is so bad for most people?

There are a few possible reasons:

Some people just don't make good business decisions. They want to make money online, and they unrealistically think that they're going to grow into the next Boing Boing or TechCrunch.
Others are simply passionate about their topic, and they blog because they love it. The money is icing on the cake. Just think about how many blogs there are that don't make any money at all. If you can get paid to do something you would do anyway, why not?
They're using it to establish themselves as an expert in their field to support their primary business. It's even better than free marketing -- it's marketing you get paid to do! Neat trick.

So before you start a blog with the intention of making money, or accept a freelance blogging gig, do your homework. Take a good hard look at the time commitment and a realistic look at the expected financial returns. Don't just get sucked in because it sounds cool. Does it stand on its own as a good business decision? If not, do the personal satisfaction or marketing benefits to your primary business make it worthwhile?

If you answer those questions before you start, you greatly improve your odds that it will meet your expectations and be something that you'll stick with and not get burned out.

This is by-far the easiest, fastest way to make money. But it's important that you follow-through.

Step 1: If you don't have a ClickBank affiliate id, go there now & get one. It's free.

Step 2: Browse through or search the ClickBank Marketplace and find a product to promote that pays at least $25 in commission.

If you don't have any money to get going, write a short article that relates to the ClickBank product. Explain how using the product will benefit those reading the article. Include your cloaked affiliate hoplink within the article body as well as "about the author" footer. Submit the article to article directories. Write and submit one or two articles per week. Step 3: If you don't have a Google AdWords account, go there now & open one.

Step 5: UNDERSTAND THIS: Make sure you use the proper hoplink format! I cringe every time I see someone post an ad for a ClickBank product & use the wrong link. Then they wonder why
they're not making any money! The correct format is: http://affiliate.vendor.hop.clickbank.net - It is NOT http://www.some-vendor-site.com/?hop=affiliate - You MUST send the visitor to CLICKBANK in order for the affiliate cookie to be set & proper credit awarded for the sale.

Step 6: Keep your keyword bids low and test different ad versions until you get one that pulls some traffic. If the ClickBank product has even a half-decent sales page, you should be able to
make more than you spend on the ads. If it doesn't, you're either paying too much for the keywords, or the sales page sucks - in which case, dump it & try a different product.

That's all there is to it.

Re-invest your profits to launch & test new products/ad campaigns. Branch-out and add Commission Junction products to the mix. Grow slowly & use the money you've made to create your own product. If you can't write, hire someone to do it for you. Have some graphics created & set up a sales page of your own.

Repeat the process until you're making the kind of money you're happy with. It isn't rocket science. I know it works. I've been doing it this way myself & this method has allowed me to quit my job & enjoy true freedom. Anybody (and I do mean ANYBODY) can do this. There's no reason that you can't make money online & finally tell your boss to kiss-off too.

If you are new to the domain registration process then you may not realise what is involved in it. Well one of the first steps that you need to ensure when it comes to registering your domain name is assuring that you have the right to register/transfer the domain name of your choice you need to search and ensure that your desired name is available. The tabs feature allows you to have one web browser open with multiple tabs each going to a separate website. You could easily put 5 or 6 of your free exchange sites in these tabs, and earn credits for all of them at the same time. So instead of surfing for 1/2 an hour or an hour earning 200 hits for one exchange, you could earn 200 hits for 5 exchanges in the same amount of time. This is a huge time saver and multiplies your earned hits by 5X or 6X.

Getting free traffic to your website is a lot of work. If you don't have the money to spend on full blown PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns like Google AdWords, free traffic exchanges are a great way to get the traffic you need at a very good price. Free!

SEO Or AdWords - Which is Best?

Many people when they first start out to promote their website realise that Google is the search engine they need to concentrate on because it has the largest market share of traffic overall. However they are then faced with the choice. Do they use SEO as their route to web traffic or Google Adwords.

In an ideal world where time and money are limitless then doing both would be the obvious choice. However in the real world choices need to be made so which one is best?

In my opinion I think it depends on your current needs and circumstances. Generally if you are looking to generate traffic quickly and can afford an advertising budget then my preference would be to concentrate on Google Adwords. Certainly if your website is brand new then SEO is probably not the route for you as it can take some months before Google will take new sites seriously enough to rank them for their organic searches.

However if you have a longer term goal (or no money!) and you can live without much Google traffic for a few months then SEO could be just the ticket because once the traffic starts to roll in it will be free traffic and that is always good for your return on investment figures.

However let's add a little more detail on the choice. I've listed a few of the key comparison items below that I hope will help you decide on the right approach for your current needs.

Price:

SEO is technically free if you do it yourself. I say "technically" because it will still require a lot of your time and as the saying goes, Time is Money! Also, you will probably want to pay for a subscription to some of the better directories for your chosen business. Certainly you will want to consider the Yahoo directory which is a few hundred dollars last time I looked.

Adwords obviously isn't free although you can set daily budgets. Unfortunately it's very easy to spend money with Adwords and for the undisciplined it's very easy to spend too much money!

Speed:

Adwords wins hands down here. An Ad from Adwords can be created and will start sending you traffic in minutes. SEO on the other hand can take weeks or even months to start to send you anything approaching decent traffic.

Competition:

Which of the two options has the most people competing for your keywords? In my view Adwords is less competitive than SEO. It's usually far easier to get your keywords to the top position in Adwords than it is using SEO techniques. Like all things there are going to be exceptions but personally I can get my keywords ranking in the top spots far quicker with Adwords than I can with SEO. Some will argue that you just buy yourself to the top of the Adwords lists with expensive clicks but I don't agree. I can get to the top with some sensible bid prices and good Adwords management.

Ongoing Maintenance:

Again, this is my personal opinion but I think Adwords requires more ongoing continued effort to maintain the top spot for your keywords than SEO does. I imagine quite a few SEO experts might argue with this but I have some top performing SEO pages that I rarely touch and they still dominate for their keywords. In fact I know people who have top performing pages who are scared to touch them in case they move down the rankings. That said, I'll admit that SEO requires significantly more work initially to get those top spots.

In terms of Adwords, to keep your campaigns performing well you should be checking them often. For me this means every day so that's why I say that I feel it requires more continued effort. Then again, there is always new links to acquire with SEO but generally once you have a top position links tend to find you.

In conclusion, I'd suggest going to Adwords if you are in a hurry and have a budget. If you have more time initially to get your traffic then SEO would seem to be your choice. That said, even if you choose Adwords as your preferred route, I would still get some basic on page SEO knowledge because this will help greatly when you write your landing pages for Adwords. By on page SEO, I basically mean how to write your pages so that they are optimised for your chosen keywords.

If you're building links to your site be sure to include your keywords in the text that links back and, if possible, the exact phrase you are trying to rank for. At the same time, you can't make all your anchor text exactly the same - how can that possibly look natural?

Position - the position of a link on a page and the number of other links on that page impacts the value of a link. A link in the footer of a page is given less weight than a link near the top, a link in the content of a page is given more weight than a link in a list of links and a link on a page with 50 other links is given less weight than a link on a page with only a few other links. If we think about it - this makes sense. All of these things indicate whether the site with the outbound links actually intends for one of their visitors to click the link or not. From an engine's perspective - the more it appears that a site wants a link to be clicked on, the higher the weight that link (or vote) is given.

Admittedly there are a number of other factors but this is a beginners guide. Following the considerations above will insure that as you make each link decision - you're odds of making the right choices will be significantly higher than if you ignore them. Ignoring them may not get you penalized or banned but it will make your task far more time consuming as you secure less valuable links and thus need to build far more than following he right methods.

So far we've covered briefly the why of link building, now let's get into the real-life, here's-how-to-do-it side of things. Below I'm going to cover three of my favorite link building tactics. These are tactics that apply to virtually every scenario. The number of ways to build links is only limited by your imagination however and this should not be viewed as a comprehensive list. This is, after all, a beginners guide and I'm trying to list the tactics that apply to virtually every scenario.

Side Note: Reciprocal Link Building

I'm not going to count this as one of my favorite and so it won't count as one of the three noted above and I'll only touch on it briefly. There have been a number of assertions that reciprocal link building is dead. This is simply not the case. I have seen and competed against sites that were very successful with reciprocal links as their primary link source.

The problem with reciprocal links isn't so much in their value which does seem to be a bit lower than non-reciprocal links however often more easily attained. No, my problem with reciprocal links is in the management. Unethical webmasters' removing links after you've put the link up to them, sites expiring and not being renewed, sites getting penalties of their own due to their bad tactics are all inconveniences the reciprocal link manager must deal with.

As an SEO company, a huge issue we faced was leaving our clients with this task after a campaign was over if they decided not to go on a maintenance package. Non-reciprocal links may be a bit harder to attain in some cases however that issue is much easier to overcome than the sum of all these issues.

If you're paying attention as you read this you'll probably have guessed that I'm a fan of article writing as a link building method. If you look to the "about the author" section you'll notice a link to the Beanstalk site (and if you don't, well ... let me know as somebody's stealing it without permission). While I genuinely enjoy writing and sharing my experiences with others - the purpose of getting the article distributed is primarily as a link building tactic, secondarily as a great source of qualified traffic and thirdly for my own enjoyment.

Directory Submissions

Directory submissions are likely the most painful of the link building tactics you'll employ. Why? Because it's tedious and time-consuming work. To be done right directory submissions must be done manually, the titles and descriptions must be tailored to the specifications of the directory in question and often, you'll have to decide if a review fee is worth it.

While there are a good many directories that accept free submissions there are also a large number that's require a review fee. The fee can range from a few dollars to a few hundred. If you see that a directory has a low PageRank, is general in it's nature (i.e. it isn't about your specific field) then it likely isn't worth more than a couple dollars if that. If the site is strong, and strongly related to your site then it's obviously worth more.

There is no hard-and-fast set of rules for how much a listing is worth. I'd recommend to start your hunt for directories (don't forget the topic and/or region specific ones), submit to all the free ones and make a list of all the ones that require a fee. After you've gotten a solid number in you "needs to be paid list" you can get a general idea as to what's out there and what you can get and for how much. This will enable you to make solid choices knowing what all your options are.

Forum Posting

I just know I'm going to get a couple comments and/or emails for listing this as a link building tactic but if it's done right there's nothing wrong with it. Forum and blog posting got a bad reputation as a link building tactic when it came under huge abuse by unethical webmasters spamming forums with useless garbage just for a link. They even went so far (and still do) as sending out spiders to automatically submit posts. To this end, I have to agree that it's a bad tactic however ...

If you're seeking out forums related to your site, reading the threads and responding with solid advice or with questions and not just firing off some sales-pitch then you're doing what you're supposed to be. Another perk to this is that, like articles, if you do this right you're gong to see traffic as well and what more can you ask from a link building tactic than traffic as well as links.

Keywords with high CPC do not always come with high number of advertisers. There are many keywords in Google's AdWords system that have a high price, but almost no or very less number of advertisers. Now, if you build a web page or website around a keyword on which no one is bidding, Google will try to fill the ad blocks with ads of the related keywords rather than the high paying keyword you were initially targeting. There is no guarantee that ads of the related keywords will be good converters. Therefore, there is every likelihood that your clicks will be passed through SmartPricing Filter, eventually resulting in lesser payouts.

Hence, it is important to see the number of sponsors bidding on the keyword in question. If there are more the advertisers, there will be more competition among them to get the top position. This means that there will be more revenue per click that they are willing to share with you. Number of clicks on an Ad
It refers to the number of clicks an advertiser gets when his ad appears on the top. People generally take the number of results returned by search engines as the number of pages competing on a keyword. But it is wrong. The Search Engine Results get irrelevant after 10 - 15 pages. Irrelevancy further increases with the depth. The pages that have the keyword dumped in a corner are not competing against you, but search engines will still list them. In fact they have to.

It is assumed that if a webmaster is targeting a web page with a particular keyword, the keyword is used in the title as well as in the anchor text linking to that webpage. Such a page is listed higher by the search engines as it is dedicated to what you searched for. So how to filter out the most relevant results? Check it out!

Inanchor intitle and Its Precision - The Solution
In Google, you can easily determine the EXACT number of pages that are competing against you. You can precisely list out the pages that are using a particular keyword in their page titles or in the anchor texts linking to them.

The query can be applied as follows: intitle:keyword inanchor:keyword.

For example, if the keyword is "hair treatment", the formula will be used in the following manner: intitle:hair inanchor: hair intitle: treatment inanchor: treatment. This figure gives you the exact number of pages that are ACTUALLY Targeting with these keywords, and not those that have just created a page or a small paragraph on the same topic. Google emphasizes on Anchors and Page titles. That's the reason, it supports such a search query.

We shall now discuss some other traditional ways to determine competition.

R/S Ratio
Here, R refers the number of competitor websites for a particular keyword as per the search result of the search engine. And S refers the number of searchers using that keyword while searching their queries. This means that for better results, you have to choose the keywords with lower R/S ratio.

R/S ratio becomes polluted when someone uses the number of results as the number of competing websites. As explained above, counting the number of results as the number of competing pages is the biggest mistake one can make while choosing a keyword. However, the figure becomes quite useful when inanchor intitle is used to create R/S.

KEI Analysis
KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index) is a formula for measuring the effectiveness of a keyword. The formula was devised by Sumantra Roy. However, this figure also depends upon the number of searches and competition, but with a difference. This formula analyzes the number of searches and competition in such a way that if the searches increase, KEI increases; and if the competition increases, KEI decreases. Higher the KEI, more profitable will be the keyword. However, it becomes polluted when the number of search results are used as the number of competitors.

Determining Traffic
Determining traffic for a keyword is quite important before targeting it. Along with the competition stats, it lets you make out the niches present in any industry. Besides, it lets you predict (to some extent) how much traffic you can expect if you promote a website around a particular keyword. There are two known sources for determining traffic. Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool (now a part of Yahoo Search Engine) and WordTracker. When talking about accuracy, Wordtracker monitors the queries on some meta search engines that actually render it inaccurate.

Reason? There is no known stat about how much of the community you are targeting is searching on those meta search engines. However, it's a good tool to make out the niches.

In my opinion, Yahoo owned Overture gives you more accurate stats than Wordtracker. This is for the reason that Overture is a PPC engine. It can show you how many people are searching for a particular term on its vast network. A network which is bigger than any Meta Search Engine. Still, it is not that accurate, but at least better than Wordtracker. The tools that are predicting Google Searches for you are just doing guess work. No one knows the algorithm they use.

Summing It Up
Profitability of a keyword depends more on the number of sponsors than CPC. Number of clicks and bidding quality can't be determined by just monitoring the first 3 or 8 places. It can be rightly assessed by taking out the average of all the 400 sponsors bidding on a keyword. Sounds very tiring for keyword research, right? Domain parking has had a bit of a bad reputation, and rightfully so. Most parked domains are setup with a registrar and they are the ones who end up making most of the income from ad clicks on your parked pages, that is, if your parked page gets any clicks at all. Many online business owners and marketers use a variety of tools to make their business successful. Good strategies include maintaining a web site, publishing an ezine, joining affiliate programs, advertising on other people's ezines, and much, much more. As any good Internet "guru" will tell you, getting your name and product "out there" is the most important part of your success. So, the general rule is: Use as many strategies as possible.

What I suggest is that you take this rule one step farther. What I think works best is combining as many of the strategies together, as possible. In other words, when you can, build your own network, using the tools you already have in place. And I'm using the word network, as it relates to networking your online systems -- not in the sense of a prospect or client network, though I have some tips on that, near the end of this article.

So, let's break down this concept. Suppose you have a web site that promotes a product or service. You probably have a sales letter, some testimonials and a merchant account, so people can buy your product. Now, what I would suggest next, if you don't already have it, is your own ezine (online magazine, operated by an e-mail autoresponder). You get visitors to subscribe to your ezine, using a pop-up or another type of FREE subscription form on your web site. Again, this may not be new to most people, but here's another spin on it. In addition to your pop-up or basic sign-up form on your site, why not add a page to your site, with a link on your home page, that does nothing but promote your ezine.

You see, many people pass up your subscription form, because they are afraid of SPAM, or they don't know enough about your ezine. Will it interest them? Or, will it just bombard them with more advertising?

A separate page can explain exactly what the ezine does, promote articles that you have in it, even give a sample issue, so prospects can see what they are getting. Be sure to have several subscription forms on this page between sections of your text, so people have plenty of opportunity to subscribe. Also, be sure that visitors are linked back to your home page, once they've subscribed, so they get back to looking at your product. Any good autoresponder will have this feature, which is crucial, because although you desperately want people signing up for your ezine, you also want them to read your sales letter and, hopefully, buy your product.

Make sure your ezine articles always link back to your web site, so you are constantly promoting yourself. After all, this is really what ezines are for.

Another part of good online networking is to set up affiliate programming, in a similar fashion to the aforementioned ezine promotion. One final thought. Promoting your business network offline is also critical to your success. Some basic techniques I use are:

• Fliers at community businesses and public places (be sure your community knows you above all others)

• Free seminars in regional communities, discussing my topic (remember, you don’t need to make money here – all you want is to get your name out there and to get e-mail addresses, so you can add them to your ezine list)

• Teach a class at a community college (get more e-mail addresses)

• Give free information away at community festivals, like Home Days

• Advertise in your local Money Saver magazines. It’s cheap, and it reaches tens of thousands of people, who love cheap or free stuff.

Well, let me see if I can help with that. In this article, I will inform you of some information out there that combined will help you perfect your website and get your name out there as it should be. Now, this is not immediate, it takes time for people to actually need, and view your site, and it takes a little time to get listed in the search engines, but for me, this has helped, and I can not be happier.

Some of these are free services and others are for a fee, but are definitely all valuable if you choose to do the leg work yourself.

1. Scrub The Web has a service that will break down the problems in your site, almost line by line. It has keyword density software, metatag analyzer, web page analyzers, validators, and much more. The site address is listed below.

2. FFA Blasters. These are free almost every time. Go to your favorite search engine and type in "FFA Blaster". What this does for you is sends your site out to tons of lists for viewing. Now, of course, The views depend on the amount of advertising that the list owner does, but as we know, people do not spend money on these lists and advertisement on the lists to not be seen.

3. Forums and Classified Ads. I have found that with all of the different forums and Ads, that people really do read these things. Not so much going on the sites looking for the information, but when you post your add, especially with a blaster, you will have the opportunity to have these ads or comments posted to the Search Engines. The most important thing to do when posting to these areas is to be sure to include keywords that you want people to be looking for. i.e. "Planting grass is my favorite hobby, and planting roses are also." Your keywords that you hope people would visit would be planting grass or planting roses. Try it, you will be surprised.

4. Articles. I am sure that you already know about this, but let me tell you anyway. Writing your opinion of a subject in article form is extremely powerful. Not only can people view these by searching keywords, but also, you get to offer your product. I was surprised when I saw my articles on the internet, and with other sites making reference to them.

5. Search Engines. As seen earlier in the articles, search engines are the key ingredient to setting your product out. You will want to go to the main ones and submit your site individually (meaning not with a blaster). Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The others, you should be pretty safe using a blaster to submit to them.

I was recently struck by the fact that the top-ranking web pages on Google are consistently much better written than the vast majority of what is read on the web.

Of course, that shouldn't be a surprise, considering how often officials at Google proclaim the importance of good content. Yet traditional SEO wisdom has little to say about good writing.

Does Google, the world's wealthiest media company, really ignore traditional standards of quality in the publishing world? Does Google, like so many website owners, really get so caught up in the process of the algorithm that it misses the whole point? Apparently not.

Whatever the technical mechanism, Google is doing a pretty good job of identifying websites with good content and rewarding them with high rankings.

I looked at Google's top five pages for the five most searched-on keywords, as identified by WordTracker on 27 June 2005. Typically, the top five pages receive an overwhelming majority of the traffic delivered by Google.

The web pages that contained written content (a small but significant portion were image galleries) all shared the following features:
